Prahlad Singh Patel takes charge of MoT and Culture; focus on showcasing cultural offerings

A four-time Member of Parliament, Prahlad Singh Patel has been named as the Minister of State (Independent charge) of the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture. Patel Prahlad is an MP from Damoh in Madhya Pradesh and has been a member of several committees in the previous Narendra Modi government.

He was also a member of Executive Council of VV Giri National Labour Institute and member of the Consultative Committee in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

A more serious focus on showcasing India’s diverse cultural offerings seemed high on his agenda. “During the last five years, perception about great Indian festivals like Maha Kumbh has changed after overwhelming global response to Ujjain Simhastha and Prayag (Allahabad) MahaKumbh. This will continue,” he said hours after taking charge of the ministry.

“There was a vicious perception being created about Indian culture and festivals like Maha Kumbh. But, after the BJP government came at the Centre, the perception changed. Gatherings in Ujjain and Allahabad Maha Kumbh received overwhelming global response during last five years. We will continue to work for this change,” Patel added.
