Madhya Pradesh Tourism to invite bids for land parcels

MP tourism is all set to kickstart the process of involving private sector in adding tourism assets to the state’s basket by offering them land parcels by the end of this month. According to Ashwani Lohani, Managing Director and Commissioner, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC), in order to boost private investment in state’s tourism, land parcels have been identified at over 15 strategic locations. And tenders will be floated before the end of this month for bidding for land parcels at three locations.

“We are seeking aggressive private sector participation in our tourism sector and for this we have identified land banks at nearly 17 locations. Before the end of this month, we will be inviting bids for three locations – Indira Sagar, Mandu, and Sanchi,” Lohani told TourismFirst on the sidelines of a recent seminar in Delhi. On a cumulative basis, the size of the land parcels offered would amount to nearly 60 acres and they will be leased out to the players interested in setting up hotels, resorts and other wayside amenities.

“ This tender will mark the beginning of a long-drawn process,” Lohani added.  The state government has also identified land banks for tourism centric development around Bhopal and Indore and they are likely to comprise the next lot of parcels to be offered to the private sector.
