Home-grown mid-segment heavyweight Sarovar Hotels has signed a new property in Ajmer, pushing the group’s total tally of hotels in the state to six. Ajmer is an important tourist destination and attracts large numbers, domestic and international. Tucked almost mid-way between Jaipur and Jodhpur, Ajmer also acts as a tourist base for exploring nearby Pushkar – an ancient and holy pilgrim site for Hindus. Not many days ago, Ajmer’s airport had been thrown open giving it easier access from key Indian cities. Sarovar Hotels has timed its entry well.

The hotel itself would enjoy excellent access to all key tourist attractions and will be offering all modern facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, bar, gym, swimming pool, spa and banquet facilities. The property is expected to be operational by October 2019.

Commenting on the development, Ajay K. Bakaya, Managing Director, Sarovar Hotels said, “We are happy to open a Sarovar Portico hotel in this significant city of Rajasthan. With its rich history, Ajmer is an important tourism destination with rising number of visitors from across the country and overseas.” Adding that the location held immense importance, he noted that the “hotel equipped with all amenities required by a modern-day traveller is set to be one of the finest in town.”

He detailed that the hotel group was focussed on strategic expansion throughout India and Africa. “Some of the expected openings this year include hotels in Amritsar, Raipur, New Delhi Mahipalpur, Somnath and Jaisalmer,” he added.

The group already has three operational hotels in Jaipur, one in Jodhpur and an upcoming hotel in Jaisalmer. Sarovar Hotel was acquired by the Louvre Group last year.
