Concluded very recently, National Tourism Award 2015-16 saw Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh bag awards for best comprehensive development of tourism, signalling that their continuous efforts to drive tourism and related infrastructure have yielded noteworthy results. Kerala grabbed the trophy for the most innovative use of information technology, adding yet another achievement to their long list of accolades. The award function was attended by the highest echelons of the government, with President Ram Nath Kovind himself in attendance. Other senior representatives from the government included Tourism Minister Alphons and Tourism Secretary Rashmi Verma. The award ceremony was attended in huge numbers by industry professionals, students and media representatives.
