InterGlobe debuts in Coimbatore with IBIS; focus on business travellers, transit leisure

InterGlobe Hotels has made its foray in Coimbatore – the second most important financial centre of Tamil Nadu – with Coimbatore City Centre. InterGlobe’s first property comes at a time when the city has been witnessing steady investments from different quarters. Recently, FMCG major and a hospitality player, ITC group has announced investments in tune of INR 2500 crore, beside launching a property, Welcom Hotels which was inaugurated recently. Chennai market, too, has witnessed a noticeable rise in average rates, compared to the last year, indicating a favourable environment in the state and make it a well-timed move by the mid-segment segment player.

Shwetank Singh, Vice President – Development and Asset Management, InterGlobe Hotels shared the rationale behind the hotel group’s move in the city, noting that the city was an ideal mix of leisure and business travellers and acted as a pit-stop for travellers planning a trip to cities further down south.  “A travel-friendly city, Coimbatore is not only a business-savvy destination but also a pit-stop vacation destination for those travelling to other parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Known for its booming textile industry, start-ups and IT hub, the city is popular amongst tourists, business travelers and localites alike,” he said. Making a mention of ever-evolving consumer patterns, he argued that guests were far more discerning and well-travelled. “Keeping these new demographic patterns in mind, ibis Coimbatore is positioned at offering great value with International standards at a mid-market price-point,” he substantiated.

In terms of its standing, it is a business hotel located strategically in the city’s central business district, and is in close proximity to local tourist attractions and shopping hubs, and is a short drive from the city’s railway station and airport. The hotel offers 129 rooms and the décor has imprints of the local culture and ethos. The walkways and corridors of the hotel feature wall art inspired by the weaves and thread work. Guest rooms are contemporary, comfortable and well-designed, and equipped with free Wi-Fi. The hotel also offers ibis’ signature ‘Spice It’ restaurant and a bar – The Hub.
