In his maiden speech on the Independence Day, as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath outlined key initiatives, already undertaken and in the offing, that are likely to have a multiplier effect on tourism footfalls in the state. He shared that the government had already initiated four-laning of highways, 
linking all important pilgrim centres spread across eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. Vrindavan, Mathura, Kushinagar, and Varanasi are some of the most frequented pilgrim destinations and seamless connectivity to these centres of faith is likely to boost traffic.
CM Adityanath also touched upon the need for imbibing the mission of ‘Swachha Bharat’ to uplift state’s image and fight health-related ailments, referring to the Gorakhpur incident. Making a pitch for all-round development and projecting ‘Brand India’, he said “we have to develop India. We have to popularise the country and make it one of the leading countries in the world. The path to development goes through Uttar Pradesh.”
In the absence of adequate air-connectivity, Uttar Pradesh is heavily dependent on road transportation and as much as 85% of all travel movement occurs by road. Given such overwhelming dependence on roads for movement of goods and services, this development bodes well for the state’s infrastructure.
